Festive DIY Treat Ideas

20:03

Hey Lovlies,

So its Christmas Eve Eve and I thought this would be the most perfect time to share some festive DIY treat ideas with you.  If you are obsessed with Christmas, like me - then keep reading and get a shopping list at the ready. I came across one of these ideas whilst scrolling through the endless Facebook stream and it caught my eye. The reindeers have to be one of my favourite things Ive ever made, and they are totally easy to make and bake free!

First up are these gorgeous reindeer, that actually took me no time at all to make! And are obviously bake/oven free. Only 5 items are needed for this make...

  • Cadbury Curly Wurly's are a must for the reindeer ears
  • Chocolate marshmallows for the head
  • Edible eyes
  • Red smarties, of course for the rudolph noses
  • Icing (to stick things on with)
So lets get into the making!!

Prepare your chocolate teacakes by pushing the wrong end of a spoon through the teacake, to make two holes for the curly wurly ears. Open the Curly wurly's and half then half again with a sharp knife to create chocolate reindeer shaped ears, push into the ready made holes and the marshmallow will help them stick in. Use whatever icing you have to attach to edible eyes (I found mine in Tesco!) and another blob of icing for the rudolph red nose ... And you're done! Pretty self explanatory I know. Taking no time at all, i'll definitely be making so more of these to show my family on Christmas Day.

The other festive DIY treat me & my boyfriend do every year is create and decorate our own gingerbread house as the centrepiece for the Christmas dinner table, and it always goes down brilliantly! We have always wanted to bake our own however the ready made ones that you decorate and build yourself are just such great value, we always end up going for them. Again I found ours at Tesco for around £4 - including the 4 sided gingerbread house, the roof, 3 packets of different sweets for decoration, white icing oh and a base. Good quality and good value. Every year we try to step it up with the decorations and this year we bought extra coloured squeezy icing.

Although this isn't our best work, the mess and trying is all part of the festive fun - no matter how it looks in the end, but I am quite proud of it. These DIY makes are all also child friendly, just be careful with the small sweets. I will be creating more festive fun over on my twitter & instagram so be sure to follow my links in the sidebar. Please also let me know if you have created any festive DIY treats, and I am always on the lookout for more so comment below with any suggestions you may have. Its Christmas Eve tomorrow so there is definitely time for more bakes and cakes!
